The shoes, estimated to be valued at HK$238,000 (US$30,502), are replica of the ones that Liu Xiang wore in creating the 110-meter hurdles record at the Lausanne Super Grand Prix in 2006. They will be on display at Hong Kong Sha Tin Racecourse on the third day of this Chinese Lunar New Year, February 9. Georges Marciano's €11m Chloe Diamond Picture: AP
Georges Marciano, Guess Jeans founder who lives in Beverly Hills, California, has bought a huge D-colour flawless white diamond for
€11m ($18.11 million) at a Sotheby auction held in Geneva, the second highest price ever paid for a diamond. The 84.37 carat gem stone dubbed as 'the essence of bling' has been named as 'Chloe Diamond' after Georges Marciano's 12-year-old daughter.
It is only eclipsed by the 100.10 carat 'Star of the Season' diamond, which went for €11.3m to Sheikh Ahmed Hassan Fitaihi in May 1995. The Chloe Diamond did, however, set a new record per-carat price at auction of €131,230 ($191,980).

The Star of the Season Diamond
According to the seller of Chloe Diamond Ron Cohen, who is chief executive officer of Los Angeles-based company Clean Diamonds, the diamond is a clean diamond because it has gone through the Kimberley Process [wikipedia] and has all the certificates. Cohen, an Israeli businessman, bought it from Angola's state-run diamond company Endiama some two years ago.

Ginza Tanaka Pure Gold 2008 Calendar was unveiled by Tanaka Kikinzoku Jewelry K.K. at its flagship store in Tokyo's Ginza shopping district. The calendar is 67 centimeters by 42 cm and weighs about 6 kilograms.
The jewelry dealer initially planned to put a 20.08 million yen price tag on the calendar, but soaring gold prices have forced it to raise the price.
To my very own viewpoint, the idea to produce such a wedding gown is as ridiculous as the 200.8-meter-long one featured earlier here.
If you think bejeweled wedding dresses are not enough to be an eye-opener, how about a wedding dress bearing 9,999 karats, or about two kilograms of gems?
Such a dress has been put on sale on Monday at a jewelry store in Shangrao in eastern China's Jiangxi province.
A report says it is a work by a well-known Hong Kong jewelry designer.
Its price tag reads 999,999 yuan (US$132,902).
The sky-high price has raised many eyebrows. Admirers said the dress was astonishingly beautiful, but they thought no one would make the bold purchase.
