This lovely 2 months-old boy nicknamed Jie Jie was born in Shanghai, where I lived and studied for some years An Hui. His physical defects that he has only one kidney while with an extra left arm may bring him unexpected hardship in his following life, because doctors have already been considering the possible surgery operations for him.

Neither of the boy's two left arms is fully functional and tests have so far been unable to determine which was more developed, said Dr. Chen Bochang, head of the orthopedics department at Shanghai Children's Medical Center.

"His case is quite peculiar. We have no record of any child with such a complete third arm," Chen said in a telephone interview. "It's quite difficult to decide how to do the operation on him."

Update: Just learned from Malaysia RTM 2 Chinese News Service at 8.00pm of 6 Jun, Jie Jie was successfully undertaken a surgery in Shanghai Children's Medical Center.
