Alexey Tolstokozhev, Russian Viagra and Penis Enlargement Spammer Murdered by Hit Man

    viagra

Alexey Tolstokozhev, a Russia spammer who is estimated to be responsible for up to 30% of all viagra and penis enlargement related spam , was shot dead by the hit man at his Moscow home, reported Alex Loonov's Blog.

Alexey Tolstokozhev (btw, in Russian his name means 'Thick Skin'), a Russian spammer, found murdered in his luxury house near Moscow. He has been shot several times with one bullet stuck in his head. According to authorities, this last head shot is a clear mark of Russian hit men (known as "killers" in Russia).

Who hated Tolstokozhev so much as to hire a hit man to assassinate him? Well, I guess you have about one billion e-mail users to suspect. Tolstokozhev was a famous spammer who sent millions of e-mail promoting viagra, cialis, penis enlargement pills and other medications. Links in these e-mails usually led to some pharmacy shop, which paid Tolstokozhev a share of its revenue. This is a well known affiliate scheme employed by spammers worldwide.

In order to send millions and millions of unsolicited letters, Tolstokozhev employed a network of infected computers (so-called "botnet"), which he rented from hackers.

How profitable is spam? Well, the authorities say that Tolstokozhev has likely made more than $2 million in 2007 alone. (in comparison: average russian monthly salary is $400)

"Violent murders is a clear sign that spam becomes a serious criminal activity" - the officials say. "Easy money attracts criminals, which bring their own version of "justice" with them."

This is a second murder of a spammer in Russia. Another Russian spammer, Vardan Kushnir, was assassinated in 2005.

OTC Cold And Cough Medicines NOTSafe for Kids Under Two

Over-the-counter (OTC) cold and cough remedies, with fruity flavors specifically marketed for kids, were originally believed safe and widely available in drugstores. But a new report from saftey experts within the Food and Drug Administration said that those syrup cough remedies might not be safe as they were thought. The review found 54 reported deaths from decongestants over the past four decades, most in children under the age of 2. So, now FDA recommended NO level of dosage for children under the age of two, "due to the lack of evidence of efficacy and safety concerns."

Spray-on-condom

    spray-on-condom

The spray-as-you-go condom was invented by Jan Vinzenz Krause from the German Institute for Condom Consultancy. Mr. Krause had come up the idea when considering the difficulties some people faced using old-fashioned latex condoms, and drew inspiration from spray-on plasters now used in medicine.

Krause's invention consists of a can-type device that sprays latex from all sides. "We call it the '360 degree procedure' — once round and from top to bottom. It's a bit like a car wash," he said.

From Pickholes' post, you can instantly know how it works:

The liquid condom comes in an aerosol can that you spray onto the organ in question. A few seconds later, the liquid solidifies into the familiar latex and forms a tight seal.

According to Gizmag, the spray-on-condom can is expected to reach market in 2008 for a price of around EUR 20 (US$27) and will offer around 20 applications. Replacement cartridges are expected to cost half the initial purchase price for the entire pack, and will be offered in different strengths and colours.

Can't wait for any longer? Don't hesitate to sign up as a beta tester!

The similar product might also be invented in Australia. But when Australian businessman named Ravi Narain boasted his invented 'invisible condom' could "offer a global solution to reduce and eventually stop the spread" of HIV, he and his former employer Citrofresh International were fined hundreds of thousands of dollars by the Australian Stock Exchange for the misleading statement.

Acupuncture Is Best Therapy for Back Pain

    Acupuncture best for back pain

Acupuncture is more effective at treating back pain compared to the conventional therapies (e.g. painkillers, injections, heat therapy and massage), a study done by Dr Heinz Endres in the Germany's Ruhr University Bochum found. One theory behind this phenomenon is that pain messages to the brain can be blocked by competing stimuli.

More than 1,100 patients took part in the study. They were given either conventional therapy, acupuncture or a sham version.

Although needles were used in the sham therapy, they were not inserted as deeply as in standard acupuncture. Neither were they inserted at points thought key to producing a therapeutic effect, or manipulated and rotated once in position.

After six months 47% of patients in the acupuncture group reported a significant improvement in pain symptoms, compared to 44% in the sham group, and just 27% in the group who received conventional therapy.

No wonder my parents prefer the acupuncture therapy to the painkillers whenever they suffer the back pain. It seems their persistence is correct.

Changbai Mountain Ginger King Auctioned for RMB10,000,000

ginger kingOn the ongoing 3rd China Jilin - Northeast Asia Investment and Trade Expo, Ginger King of Changbai Mountain, a 300-year-old ginger unearthed in Wusong County of Jilin Province earlier this year, was auctioned at a baseline price of RMB10,000,000, or around US$1,300,000, but nobody bid it. For sure,  those rich men would like to buy a diamond studded human skull with $100 million rather than to buy a meaningless plant rhizome.

Thai Poisonous Puffer Fish Sold as Salmon Kills 15

Thai Poisonous Puffer Fish Sold as Salmon Kills 15 Dishonest Thai vendors have been selling meat from the highly poisonous puffer fishpuffer fish disguised as salmon and killed more than 15 people and poisoned a further 115 over the past three years in Thailand.

Puffer fish known as fugu in Japan or Hetun in China is considered an especial delicacy. But the ovaries, liver and intestines of the fish contained a toxin called Tetrodotoxintetrodotoxin (TTX) that is formally known as anhydrotetrodotoxin 4-epitetrodotoxin. Even small quantities of TTX can induce respiratory problems that can lead to death, and also there is currently no antidote to the toxin, so many countries have banned it sold on the market.

On the other hand, the puffer fish has led scientists to find an active ingredient of the poison called Tectintectin, a non-addictive pain-killing drug that is claimed to be some 3000 times stronger than morphine, with effects lasting between eight and 21 days, with no side effects.
