Malaysia Indigenious Resident Saves 100 from Longhouse Collapse

    Fifty-seven-year-old Renjis Empati's urge to answer nature’s call saved 100 residents living in a Borneo longhouse (where an entire community lives under a single structure) being buried alive in Sarawak, one of two states of East Malaysia.

    When he was walking to the open-air toilet outside the longhouse after midnight Friday, he saw his kitchen slowly collapsing. Then he immediately ran to the longhouse walkway and screamed to alert residents of the century-old 14-door longhouse and nine other homes.

    The collapse caused residents to lose most of belongs including those hundreds-of-year-old ancestral items. Link
