Ukrainian Leonid Stadnik, 2.57 meters (or 8 feet 5.5 inch) tall, is the new tallest person in the world, beating 7-foot-9-inch Chinese man Bao Xi-shun (links 1, 2, 3, 4, 5) who previously held the title. The 36-year-old Leonid Stadnik, a former veterinarian, was officially recognized as the world's tallest man by Guinness World Records on August 8. His growth spurt started at age 14 after a brain operation apparently stimulated his pituitary gland. Now he lives with his mother, Halyna, taking care of the family's house and garden.
