Oakland Post Editor Chauncey Bailey Assassinated

Oakland Post Editor Chauncey Bailey Gunned Down

, a well-known journalist and editor of the largest African-American weekly newspaper Oakland Post in northern California, was assassinated in what police believe was a targeted hit when a masked gunman shot him twice. The shooting happened about 7:25 a.m. in the 1400 block of Alice Street, downtown Oakland. Chauncey Bailey was pronounced dead at the scene, while the gunman fled off the spot fled on foot to a waiting van and drove off.

The 57-year-old Chauncey Bailey, a conservative Black, was against immigration, against hand outs to Black, against Black being owned by the Democrats

Police and Crime Stoppers of Oakland are offering up to $10,000 in reward money for information leading to the arrest of the suspect. Anyone with information can call police at (510) 238-3821 or Crime Stoppers at (510) 238-6946.

Anyway Pete Wevurski, who succeeded Chauncey Baily as editor of The Oakland Tribune, the death of such a respected local journalist as Bailey - the 31st journalist killed around the world in 2007 - was a blow to the industry. Link
