Anna Marie Linscott, picture below, is a woman from Grand Rapids, Michigan who has an affair with an Oroville, California man. The 48-year-old massage therapist was nabbed by FBA agents after she was known to advertise on the famous classified ads portal Craiglist for someone willing to murder her lover's 56-year-old wife.
ALGOMA TOWNSHIP --Linscott, a massage therapist, is accused of trying to pay someone to kill the wife of her lover. She is slated to appear in federal court in Grand Rapids Tuesday for a hearing that could lead to the 49-year-old's extradition to Sacramento, Calif., to face charges of using the Internet in the commission of a murder-for-hire.
California investigators say at least three people exchanged e-mails with Linscott after seeing her ad for "freelance" employment on the popular Web site Craig's List.
She allegedly told the ad respondents she wanted a "silent assassin" to "eradicate" a 56-year-old Butte County employee named Carol -- and was prepared to pay $5,000 for the job.
Sacramento FBI Special Agent Steve Dupree said Linscott and the married man from Northern California engaged in a Web-based affair starting in 2004 or 2005, which then led to the two meeting in Reno, Nev., and near the man's home.
Federal investigators said the two were communicating via e-mail and telephone up to earlier this month.
The man allegedly told police the two had sexual encounters that extended their "deep and intimate" virtual relationship.
Friday, agents with the FBI arrested Linscott at her home near Summit Avenue NE and 14 Mile Road.
Anna Marie Linscott is married to John Linscott, with whom they have two teen-aged children. The accused woman had changed her legal name to just "Ann Marie" and that is the name listed on her driver's license.
