Alia Sabur was appointed as a full-time faculty Professor at South Korea's Konkuk University in Seoul with effect from 19 February 2008, aged 18 years 362 days
The Guinness Book of World Records has recognized Alia Sabur as the world's youngest professor. Sabur beat a nearly 300 years old record held by great physicist Isaac Newton's student Colin Maclaurin who became a professor of mathematics at Marischal College in the University of Aberdeen in 1717 when at 19 years old.
Alia Sabur enrolled at Stony Brook University in America at age 10 and graduating summa cum laude at 14. After Stony Brook Sabur attended Drexel University where she received her M.S. in 2003 and doctorate in Materials Science and Engineering in 2006. She received a black belt in Tae Kwon Do at the age of 9 and played clarinet with the Rockland Symphony Orchestra at 11.
On Feb. 19, three days shy of her 19th birthday, Alia Sabur who is currently teaching math and physics courses at Southern University in New Orleans, was hired as a professor in the Department of Advanced Technology Fusion at Konkuk University, as research liaison with Stony Brook University.
