It was overtaken all of a sudden by a pop star, actress Xu Jinglei's 老徐 徐静蕾 新浪BLOG, most thanks to the very rampant Chinese readership mainly in China, Hong Kong Taiwan.
BoingBoing was founded as a group blog nearly 5.5 years since Janurary 2000, while Xu's was just created half an year ago on sina.com for herself. The legacy of Xu's Blog is so astonishing! Snips from a CCTV 17 April report:
Tags:Actress Xu Jinglei's blog has received an astonishing 10 million (w.y. note: ~29 million as of 12:00 am Kuala Lumpur time on 5/5/06) Internet hits, more than any other celebrity's website. Now she is turning all of it into a book simply titled, "Xu's Blog".
The book gathers 130 articles and 20 photos from Xu Jinglei's website. She has only been posting on the net for half a year, but the response has been remarkable.
Each of the seven chapters discusses a phase of Xu's life. The first chapter, "My blog trial field", recalls grandma's home cooking and her junior high days. In chapter two "Whatever Blog", she discloses her secret idolization of Korean actor Bae Young-Jun. In one chapter, she even teaches us a way to grow taller.
