Oldest Man on Mountain Everest

    Katsusuke YanagisawaRetired Japanese teacher Katsusuke Yanagisawa scaled the 8,850m (29,035ft) Himalayan peak on May 22,, breaking the record previously set by his country man Takao Arayama in May 2006 and becoming world's oldest climber to reach Qomolangma.

    He was 71 years, 2 months and 2 days old when he reached the summit of Mountain Everest while Arayama was 70 years, 7 months and 13 days old.

    Mr. Yanagisawa climbed the China's Tibetan side of the peak with a team including New Zealanders and Japanese. Source: theStar
