Parrot "Peanut" is a hero after saving a 33-year-old man and his 9-year-old son from a blaze by mimicking the sound of a fire alarm.
The bird's owner Shannon Conwell (below, right) said he and his son (below, left) fell asleep on the couch while watching a movie one day. They awoke about 3 a.m. to find their home on fire after hearing the family's Amazon parrot, Peanut, imitating a fire alarm.
The smoke alarm had activated, but it was the bird's call that caught Conwell's attention. Then he grabbed his son and his bird, rushed out the house.
Though the fire destroyed the home's dining room, kitchen and bedroom, they are safe.
