Goncalo Amaral
, the detective leading the Madeleine McCann investigation, had been sacked from the inquiry after launching an astonishing public attack on his British counterparts.
The 47-year-old Chief Inspector was dismissed from the position by the national director of the Judicial Police.
Goncalo Amaral had accused British detectives of only chasing leads Gerry and Kate McCann want followed up.
