It seems no way for me to find a dog uglier than this Elwood. The 2.7KG Chinese Crested and Chihuahua hybrid won the dubious honor of being named the world's most hideous canine at the 2007 World's Ugliest Dog Contest in Petaluma, California, June 22, 2007. From Sonoma-marinfair Elwood, 2nd runner up in 2006 World's Ugliest Dog Contest, is back for another run at the Title. This little dog weighs in at just 6 lbs and was rescued as the result of a NJ SPCA investigation. When we first saw Elwood, we knew he was special, not just because of his unusual appearance (which we find darling), but because of his magical personality and loving ways. Elwood has become a local celebrity throughout New Jersey (his home state) and a Good Will Ambassador for homeless animals and those with special needs. He spends much of his time working with rescue groups spreading the messages to adopt a homeless animal; spay/neuter your pet; and be kind to animals (and each other). But most importantly, this little dog brings smiles and happiness to everyone he meets. Last year lots of people thought Elwood was "ugly", some thought he looked like a "monkey", "Yoda" or "ET". But since being in the contest, people now tell use he's "adorable", "cute", "too cute to win". As you can see, this tiny dog will capture your heart. Cute or ugly...we think he's just PERFECT.
Beyond the regal title of ugliest dog, Elwood also earned a $1,000 reward for his owner Karen Quigley.
