On the 31st World Heritage Committee meeting, UNESCO adds numerous new sites of cultural significance to its World Heritage list. Among them, China's Diaolou villages in Kaiping were enlisted. The villages feature 1,800 fortified tower houses. They were built as a response to banditry in the late 19th and early 20th Century. As a patriotic Chinese, I am proud of it.
