From CRI Two hundred or so outdoor sports enthusiasts form the five Olympic rings in the vast Kumtag desert, in China's northwestern Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, on Saturday, June 23, 2007. The performance was part of a series of Olympic-themed activities, organized by the local Shanshan County government and the Xinjiang Mountaineering Association, to promote next year's Beijing Olympic Games. Nearly one thousand outdoor sports fans signed up for the activities.
