Chinese Farmer Made Solar-powered Water Heater from Beer Bottles

    Ma Yan-jun's solar-powered water heater

Because his economy didn't allow him to a brandnew water heater for the old mother, Man Yan-jun, a villager from Mizhi County of Sha'an Xi Province, invented a solar-powered water heater out of beer bottles, horsepipes and rubber seals.

His invention features 66 beer bottles aligned into 6 rows and attached to a board. The bottles are connected to each other through a hole drilled on the bottom of each bottle so that water flows through them.

Sunlight heats the water as is passing slowly through the bottles before flowing into the bathroom as hot water. Every day the heat water from Ma's selfmade heater can provide enough water for three persons to take showers.
